Chinese New Year

New Year is the first day or several days in the begin of one year. The traditional of New Year in different countries will be different.

 

In China, Chinese New Year is one of the longest and most important festival. Chinese New Year also called Spring Festival ( that is “春节 – chun jie” we called in Chinese) It starts from the first day of Jan. of traditional Chinese calendar, which is “zheng yue chu yi ( 正月初一)” in China. And ends on 15th Jan of the traditional Chinese calendar – the Lantern Festival ( “Yuan Xiao jie” – 元宵节). Before the New Year, we will clean and decorative our house, and have red distich paper on our house. People will celebrate from the day before the first day of Jan –where Chinese families gather for our annual reunion dinner, is known as Chúxī (除夕), literally "remove evening" or "Eve of the Pas

Chinese New YearDuring the New Year holiday, we will stay together with our families, have some wonderful food, fire firecracker… Besides, we will visit our relatives and good friends. During the visit, when eldership meet junior, the older one will give the junior red packet. Usually, there will be money in the red packet. The elders hope the youngers will grow healthy and happily in the coming year when giving red packets.
