Xia is the first prehistoric dynasty. From about the twenty-first to the sixteenth century B.C, scientific excavations were made at early bronze-age sites at Anyang, Henan Province.

When we talking about Xia, it was difficult to separate myth from history. Till now, archaeologists have uncovered urban sites, bronze implements, and tombs that point to the existence of Xia civilization in the same locations cited in ancient Chinese historical texts. At least, the Xia period marked an evolutionary stage between the late Neolithic Era cultures and the typical Chinese urban civilization of the Shang dynasty.

Many people agree that Xia is a country developed by Tribal Union. “Jia Tian Xia” in Chinese history, was started in Xia, it was the beginning of about 4000 years hereditary Dynasty. It is reported that there are 14 eras of Xia – about 471 years. Then Shang took place of Xia. Xia is the first traditional Dynasty, so it is respected highly in history, that is why Chinese call themselves as “Hua Xia (华夏)” now.
